Chapter 7

7:24 PM
DEQS Laboratory

Captain Davis entered the building using his key and private security code. He walked to the clean room entrance, unlocking the glass double doors. The lights went purple, which indicated that a higher-up had entered and all personnel needed to leave.

There was no one else in the building.

He walked to the fridge and opened the main door, which led to a special, digital-keyed section with a “Top Secret” designation.

The captain punched in his code and opened the small door. He reached for a titanium cube that held critical contents and closed the door. He turned around and saw Darrius at the door, holding Hera in his arms. She wasn’t moving.

“Darrius,” the captain seemed slightly alarmed, “you made it back.”

Darrius slowly knelt and set Hera down on the ground. Angela could be seen behind him, and she began making her way towards the captain.

Slowly.

“It’s incredible that you’re here,” Captain Davis said, “Made it out of the woods and…”

“Save it.” Angela had a knife at her side, and she was walking towards him quickly.

“Angela, I…”

“That box in your hand,” She said, “Show it to me.”

The captain shook his head.

She kept approaching, “I’m not going to ask again. And if you think you’re a match for me after escaping that monster you created, you’ve got another thing coming.”

Davis exhaled, frustrated and upset, “It didn’t have to be this way.” He extended his hand, and she looked down. Darrius stood and stepped forward, stopping by her side. He looked down at the box, reading the label on the lid.

LOBO.
